We would like you to join us as we take a jouney to the historcal areas of Harlem (NY) to learn about the legacy of not just Malcom X but outher that made an impact in the Civils Rights era.
Pi Epsilon Alpha Sigma (ΠΕΑΣ) PEAS Incorporated is partnering with the Get On the Bus Coalition for a bus trip to Harlem New York in honor of Malcolm X Day. The trip will begin from Cheyney University (where students who arrive early will be treated to a tour of the Marcus Foster building prior to departure) and pick up others from Malcolm X Park in West Philadelphia (5100 Pine Street).
As we head to Harlem, we will be hosting a virtual Zoom chat on the Heroes and Sheroes of the Civil Rights Movement, as well as their historical contributions during their times in Harlem. When we arrive in Harlem, we will be visiting many historical sites and areas including the legendary Apollo Theater, The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center, and the Schomburg Center.
There will be opportunities to dine and shop at the Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market (home to various Afrocentric and black owned businesses) as well as the famous Sylvia’s Restaurant. On the return trip, Pi Epsilon Alpha Sigma (ΠΕΑΣ) PEAS Incorporated will have a brief trivia giveaway which will include prizes and gifts.
